‘Broadway.tickets’ launches new era in ticketing

Accent Media today announces a major partnership with The Shubert Organization, Broadway’s largest theatre owner and operator, to launch Broadway.tickets and provide theatre-goers with a simple way to purchase tickets via a single web destination. The partnership is the first of its kind in the new top level domain industry and will afford Accent the long-term value of a category-level domain name.
Category-level domains present significant commercial opportunities because they capture entire markets under memorable names. Broadway.tickets is the first step in a series of ventures aimed at transforming the way people discover, buy and sell tickets in multiple industries. The company has plans to bring other category domain names to market in the coming months.
In a significant endorsement of the company, the Shubert Organization has acquired a 10% stake in Accent Media and registered more than 50 ‘.tickets’ domains, including names for each of their 17 Broadway theatres.
The Shubert Organization views the launch of Broadway.tickets as an opportunity to expand global awareness of Broadway as a brand, extending its reach into untapped markets worldwide.
Accent Media created the ‘.tickets’ Top Level Domain (“TLD”) as the authenticated online space for all ticketing needs and customer service in the fields of entertainment, travel, sport, and destinations of choice. The company has seen immediate and substantial demand for its domain names since it started selling in July. Early buyers include airlines SAS and Emirates, top flight football teams Arsenal and Real Madrid, technology giants Google and Apple, artists U2 and Adele, and sporting bodies Major League Baseball and the NFL (both of whom have bought domains for every team in the league).
